New Releases

Post by admin »

G'day All.... a little part (ok, major part) I've had on the go for the Alfas for a while. A new floor pan and angled panel.

Like a lot of my parts I design things over a long period of time, and make improvements as more recent reference images and info becomes available. I'd like to thank Nick (mentioned in the Alfa forum) as his pics have allowed me to finish off this set.

The biggest ''must-have'' with this was an accurate positioning on the model. The standard Pocher floor is rather basic, but sits level with the top edge of the Chassis rail, however a quick search online will show this panel should be around mid-way of the top and bottom of the rail. Not to mention the numerous other design compromises the original Pocher item has.

So, here is the prototype version of the set I've come up with. This is a larger panel than the Pocher part, and also has an extra ''panel'' to cover up the body width opening under the seat. Although technically not correct this tidies up the area a lot, and is going to be largely unseen once installed. The original cars appear to have part of the chassis cross member more-or-less level with the leading edge of the seats. I didn't feel like totally re-engineering this area, so the covering panel is a good and practical compromise.

This set also includes some much-needed ''eye-candy'' in the way of the reserve fuel tank switch. The collection of butterfly knobs and pipework on the lower right floor. I've even been able to get the extremely small lettering of ZENITH and CARBURETTOR on the housing so pretty happy with that.

I've also made the floor to accept the original Pocher kit oil tank, but also note that all of the original Alfas (aside from an extremely small number very early on in the manufacturing) had the oil tank located on the LEFT side of the car, NOT the RIGHT as per the Pocher kit.

This set also has nice fastener detail, nuts, bolts, screws etc, in the correct alternating pattern as per the real car.

The options for this set will be as follows:

- Floor as per Monza (oil tank choice for left or right)
- Floor as per MONZA with the addition of a foot activated button switch (oil tank choice left or right)
- Floor as per TOURING (larger ribs on the floor / finer ridges on thee angled panel (oil tank choice left or right)
- Floor as per TOURING (larger ribs on the floor / finer ridges on the angled panel) with addition of foot activated button switch (oil tank choice left or right)

Still doing a few tests on this but is pretty much complete. I may add an oil tank to the range at a later date (got some Jag stuff to do first). Pics of all options will follow though I've included a few images of the test print for sizing. Pricing to be confirmed.
