1948 MG TC Entex 1/16

Post by edsreef@gmail.com »

Greetings. Just thought I would post a few pictures of the MG TC I am working on. Needed a little break from the Jaguars. This is one of the kits I bought some time ago, always liked the look of these cars since I was young. Sort of got hooked on the English sports cars when I was younger. My first was a 1970 TR-6. Was my daily driver and fun on twisty country roads on summer days. Later, I was fortunate enough to have both a 1964 TR-4 and a 1966 Sunbeam Tiger Mk 1A. Got the TR-4 first and had for a few years and literally by chance, got a Sunday paper on Saturday. Back then the Sunday papers had huge sections of car, truck, etc. for sale. And there is was, Sunbeam Tiger. Called up the seller and made appointment to see first thing Sunday morning. I bought it. Had many fun years of driving both. However, in the end I eventually sold both.

Today, I really wished I had kept the Tiger. I was my favorite one. And with todays prices on them, well... will never have one again.

Anyway, back to the MG TC. First pictures are of a couple of the body parts. As usual, same prep and paint work went into as I did on the Jag. I went to clear coar them last Saturday, and after I finished spraying them, was checking them over. Well almost all of them came out fine, with the exception of 3 parts The 2 side panels of the hood (bonnet) and back "panel" of the body, it loooked like the clear coat ate into the paint. Was not too happy.

So, once dried and cured, stripped the bonnet side panels and sanded down back of body. ( The body is just sitting on the lower part of body) Still need to do some fine sanding on the side panels. Hope to re-paint this weekend. Keep my fingers crossed. Have not had that happen before. The other pictures are of the frame and engine and a few electrical components. Will post some others as build progresses.
